Anybody that has skied or Snowboarded at any level will immediately recognize this man. For those of you who don’t, this is the guy that everybody who grew up skiing in the 90’s in the Seirra looked up to. Glen Plake is one of the best skiers i’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. He recently survived a devastating avalanche in Nepal, losing two close friends, and 9 others in his party. On CNN tonight he spoke of the tragedy saying that he does not do what he does for the adrenaline rush, but for the journey itself. “Life isn’t about that one run you get to go down once you’re at the top it’s the journey that gets you there.” 8 people have died on their journey, and 3 others are missing. May the thoughts and prayers of all skiers and snowboarders worldwide be with the families of those missing and dead. And let this be a reminder to us all that skiing like in life is not about that one perfect run, it’s about everything that leads up to that perfect run.
